Digital Marketing is Dead
Traditional marketing and traditional digital marketing is no longer a viable avenue for a good portion of how we view advertising content. Slowly but surely whether you notice it or not we are seeing a change in how every marketer, major company or growing brand is creating brand awareness and generating leads. Things like email blasts, google adwords and facebook ads are going no where yet but the strategy which is being adopted worldwide is how we reach our target audience has changed for the BETTER.
First lets breakdown how each section of digital marketing has changed:
Banner Ads: Google has gone out of its way to change how we approach ads and advertising for better of us all. Your traditional banner ads are never going to leave the site but creating advertisements that provide us value and more of a reason to click, its true value will always lie in brand awareness. Anything to get inside our subconscious through the gateway of our eyes.
Search Ads: Providing value is the name of the game in modern digital marketing. You are starting a relationship with someone giving them a way to talk to you, imbibe your content or have their questions asked is going to drive more people through paid methods on your site. Your goal with every ad or piece of content you create should be to provide value to your client. Providing a better visual and utilitarian experience while browsing the web will only help you grow.
Email: There are a lot of mixed reviews out there on email marketing. Some say it’s better than it has ever been others say its futile and your email is just getting drowned out in a sea of mass emails. The truth is email marketing only works if you again are PROVIDING VALUE, yes, your emails should be jam packed with useful information. I find the only emails I pay attention to in the mass emails are the ones that consistently provide me content that I find useful or enjoy reading. Entertainment and utility.
The one thing all three of these avenues have one thing in common, content. You must endeavor to create useful, interesting and valuable content for your audience. Look at who is following you on social media, look at who you are sending email blasts to. Gauging your demographic and niche and what they’re paying attention to and is trending within that community is what will provide value to them.
Remain Aware
More than likely the kind of business you’re in is the one that provides a product or service to a niche customer base. You must remain aware of info, news, or entertainment that your audience would want or enjoy. Sell signs, paper, and print? Pay attention to publications, twitter accounts, and industry professionals who create content actively for inspiration and for curated content. Content Curation will help you build your social audience and still provide value to your community.
We must endeavor to make better content, find better content, create communities around the people and stories within our audience. Lift up those that celebrate you and the people you are paying attention to you will build trust with your audience. Help those that help you and build up those that support you. Good content, transparency and honesty will shine through every piece you write and share.
